photo Mr. Tim

Tim Coronado, the studio's owner, artistic director, and lead choreographer/teacher, began dancing at the age of nine.  After only a few years on the competition stage Tim accepted a contract to tour as a background dancer on Frankie J's "Slam Down" tour.  He later went on to tour with Christina Milian and appeared in the original "Step Up" movie as well as Shaina Perry's video, "It's Me".   Having trained in and taught classes across the United States, Tim returned to the Houston area in 2007 where he began teaching to both recreational and competitive-level dancers, as well as serving as an associate choreographer for International Ballet of Houston.  In 2011, Tim and Tonya opened TNT Dance Xplosion in a one-room studio that has grown to over 5,000 square feet.  Over the past fifteen years, not only have Mr. Tim's dancers won several awards, solo titles, championships, and grand championships at both the regional and national level, but they have gone on to join national champion college dance teams, perform for professional sports teams, dance alongside headlining celebrities during halftime performances of the Super Bowl, and with some of the best dance companies, talent agencies, cruise ships, and recording artists in the country and around the world.  In 2019 Tim had the priviledge of choreographing and appearing in Curtis Braly's hit music video, "One Day" and again in 2021 with Braly's pitch for Soundtracks Live.  Tim has also recieved several awards of his own for "Best Choreography", "Best Concept", and "Most Entertaining" to name a few but his proudest moments are seeing his students growth (both on and off the dance floor) and seeing his students become successful dance professionals.  Looking to the future, Tim continues to focus on the development - mind, body, and spirit - of our next generation of dancers.

photo Mrs. Mikala

Putting on her first pair of ballet and tap shoes at the age of 3, Mikala Dodds (31) has always enjoyed dance; however, it was her discovery of competitive level dancing at the age of 10 that ignited her drive to do whatever it took to become a respected name in the industry.  Not only has she achieved that goal but Mrs. Mikala is known by other dancers, parents, teachers, and judges as having a true PASSION FOR DANCE!  Attending classes at local studios, dance conventions, and The Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, she has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, modern, and musical theatre.  Her love for the art of dance shows both in the dance room and on the competition/performance stage where she has been awarded several top awards, overall placements, special judges awards, and scholarships as a dancer and several regional and national awards as a teacher/choreographer.  In 2022, Mrs. Mikala was priviledged to have choreographed her first National Solo Champion routine and, in 2025, shared the honor of being named a national Choreographer of the Year with Mr. Tim!  While not creating art at the studio, Mikala enjoys all things fashion, cooking, interior design, and volunteering as a member of the Events and Design Teams at her church. Her unconditional love for her dancers is evident both in the studio and out, often bragging to anyone who will listen about how proud she is of all her 'kids' and 'babies'... which is just one of many reasons our dancers look up to her as a role model and why she has so naturally fallen into her newly aquired role as a mom to a beautiful baby girl (that we hope to see on the dance floor sooner rather than later).

photo Mr. Edwin

Edwin Dodds joined the faculty of TNT Dance Xplosion as a teaching assistant in 2021 during his last year of competition eligibility.  Self taught, Edwin joined color guard as a high school freshman while also participating in the drill prep/advance dance program at his high school.  As a sophomore, Edwin made history when he became one of two male Diamonds named to the once all-female team.  Continuing to participate as a member of both color guard and drill throughout his junior year, Edwin later went on to serve as Sr. Lieutentant his final year in high school, choosing to focus strictly on dance.  During this time Edwin also joined the TNT Dance Xplosion Family as his first ever dance studio and became an integral member of the Sr. Elite Dance Company where he earned several regional and national titles, uncountable team awards, multiple duet and individual overalls, and TWO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPSHIPS.  Edwin was also the recipient of several special judges awards including 'Serious Air Time', 'Effortless', and 'Powerhouse' to name a few. Earning his first choreography award after just two years of setting pieces, Edwin has continued to be recognized for his creativity.  Edwin specializes in leaps, dance tricks, flexibility, partnering, choreography, and all things drill, and is certain to make a positive impact on both our recreational and competitive-level dancers for years to come.  While not at the studio Edwin enjoys photography, graphic design, art, cooking, interior decorating, and COFFEE! Most recently, Mr. Edwin has enjoyed his new role as a dad - one he deserves a 1st OVERALL for!
